TRAINING ON FUNDAMENTALS OF COOPERATIVE

AUGUST 21-22, 2021

SAGADA HOMESTAY

The year 2022 being election year, the probability of having the Annual General Assembly is 75%. With this in mind, Sagada Multi-purpose Cooperative in partnership with the Mountain Province Cooperative Union, being the accredited training provider for Cooperatives conducted a training on the Fundamentals of Cooperative which is a mandatory training for Coop officers.

The training was attended by 4 males and 41 females who are members, officers, and staff of SMPC.

We are happy to note that we had a mix age group of participants. If we will have the General Assembly next year, all of the officers will be changed in the sense that all of the positions will be vacant.

In our by-laws one term of an officer is 2 years.

Since we did not have General Assembly for 2 years, then all the positions of Board of Directors, Audit Committee and Election Committee will be elected next year in Annual General Assembly will be allowed by the government.

The Resource Person of the training is Ms. Rosalie C. Abarquez, one of the pool speakers of MPCU.

She patiently and in lay man’s understanding explained the Cooperative philosophy and the salient features of the Coop code of RA 9520.

On the 2nd day of the training the participants came in full force despite the fight of Senator Manny Pacquiao VS. Ugas.

Our chairperson, Benedict T. Yodong, Jr. explained the SMPC vision, mission, goals and objectives as embodied in our 5 year Development Plan.

He emphasized that nothing in this world is permanent and we have to embrace CHANGE and be INNOVATIVE in order that our Cooperative would be true to its vision to become globally competitive.

As further explained by the Resource Person, Ms. Sally, officers should continuously review the Coop’s Development Plan and be strategic thinkers as they plan for the direction of the cooperative.

In my personal growth, despite my confidence as Resource Speaker in Pre-membership Education Seminar (PMES) and in Organizational Development, I still learned new learnings from our Resource Person, Ms. Rosalie A. Abarquez.

I then encourage our coop members to attend
Seminars whether it be livelihood, entrepreneurial or capability skills training. There is no age limit in learning new ideas.

On our part, SMPC would continuously give trainings to its members, officers, and staff.

Thank you for the participants of the Fundamentals of Cooperative for your active participation and we look forward to welcoming you as officers of the Cooperative in the future.
